STN - 3000 TELEAUTOMATICS SYSTEM

System for automated control of distributed technological entities.

Purpose of STN-3000

STN-3000 is produced by “AtlanticTransgasSystem Co., Ltd”. It is up-to-date system, intended for automated control of distributed technological objects. First of all, that is entities of pipeline transport, production, storage, and distribution of natural gas, oil, and oil products. STN-300 was developed in the middle of 90-th. At present it received the most reputation at producing and transporting enterprises of “Gazprom” Public Corporation. There it is used widely for automation of gas pipelines, gas distributing (GDS) and gas measuring (GMS) stations, groups of gas wells, and stations of underground gas storage (UGS).

Solutions of ATGS integrate control point (CP) of telemechanics for linear part, electrical-chemical protection stations (ECP) and SAUs for GDS into united system with single channel of data transfer and single input to SCADA system of a customer. Such approach permits to use single communication system, single concentrator and single standby automated working place (HMI) of telemechanics. That substantially saves expenses for realization and simplifies system support.

If CP of telemechanics is equipped with high-end controller, then it has high functionality, reliability and low power consumption. The systems as a whole and its components have modular structure.Systems which are based on them can be extended easily (without stopping of entity monitoring and loss of applications developed previously).

STN structure and main components:

STN-3000 is multilevel hierarchical distributed system. Its structure is defined by the structure of control object. STN-3000 includes complete set of technical means for automation of territorially distributed technological objects. It has following structural unities:

  •        Control point (CP) of telemechanics. 
  •        Control station (MP).
  •        Complete set of communication means
  •        Measuring instrumentation (sensors, flow computers, actuating devices).

Modifications:

In dependence from automation entity type STN-3000 has following modifications of controlled stations of telemechanics:

  •       MP of telemechanics for pipeline linear part; 
  •       CP of telemechanics for stations of cathode protection (CPS); 
  •       CP of telemechanics for groups of gas wells;
  •       CP of automatic control systems (SAU) for gas distributing stations (GDS);
  •       SAU for gas measuring stations;
  •       SAU for pump and compressor stations.

Functions:

The system provides the following basic functions in real-time:

  • Gathering, translation, and data reception  from objects (parameters, remote alarm messages, remote control and adjustment comands, parameters integral solutions);
  • Data analysis and validation;
  • Display of analysis and control results (in the text form on technological schemes and tables, graphs, color (visual) and sound alarm;
  • Real-time calculation providing and diagnosis of technical and net eqiupment;
  • Direct control of object with providing of transmission and execution of commands;
  • User-friendly dialog while performing all these actions.

Functions that control points perform are constantly expanding.  Standard control point STN-3000  in addition to the classical functions of telemechanics system provides control of the process equipment for complex algorithms, regulation of technological equipment, including the PID control, management of the system of protection against corrosion of the pipeline.  In addition, it provides alarm  (in some cases even the functions of video surveillance), deep self-diagnostics, maintenance of events archives etc. Improvement of element base of STN-3000 system made it possible to perform complex mathematical calculations with the help of controlled points, for example, the calculation of gas flow in real-time for several measuring pipelines. In a number of systems control points implement sophisticated computational algorithms for the system of oil products leakage detection.

At present CPs are realized on the base of programmable logic controllers (PLC): ControlWave and ControlWave Micro .

 

ControlWave 

 


ControlWave is a programmable logic controller in STN-3000 system, which is used for large objects automation, such as compressor and pipe stations, gas distributed stations. ControlWave controller has the main advantages of PLC, RTU and DCS. ControlWave main functions are:

  • Scaling in accordance with the number of input/output (I/O) signals;
  • Modules of input/output up to 32 signals;
  • Wide communication possibilities: wide communication possibilities: three 100/10 Base-TEthernet ports, four RS 232/485 I/O ports;
  • Programming language corresponds to the standard IEC 61131-3;
  • Extended temperature range ( - 40 - +70 Ñ). 

 

ControlWave Micro

 ControlWave controller`s model ControlWave Micro is used in STN-3000 for CP of pipelines and objects linear part. Controller ControlWave Micro has less power consumption and less cost. In comparison with ControlWave,  computational capabilities of controller are reduced, but the resources of 486 processor are enough for the majority of SLTM tasks.

Communication means between controllers:

STN - 3000 system can have up to five levels of controllers. Each controller of a higher level can operate 127 controllers of lower level. Total amount of controllers in a STN - 3000 system can reach 32767.

Connections between controllers can be made by means of flowing means:

  • interface RS232/RS485;
  • fiber optic cable;
  • the private or switched telephone line;
  • radio channel;
  • satellite communication

Communication means are built into the technological controllers. Ethernet and TCP\IP protocol are implemented to the system. Communication within the STN-3000 system is carried out through nterference-tolerant protocol BSAP. This high-reliable protocol confirms ISO1745/2111/2629 requirements.

Control point STN-3000 allows connection of outside devices through next protocols: ACSII , BSAP, CIP, DFI, DNP3, HART, IEC 1107, MODBUS (including TCP/IP).

SCADA host computer levels are realized on a basis of modern program complexes: InTouch of WONDERWARE company ( USA ).

ATGS has developed program-technical complex SPURT (it is Russian abbreviation of system for program control of pipelines modes).

SPURT is the effective and reliable solution for SCADA system projects, demanding:

  •        large real time databases with complex, multitask information processing;
  •        interface with different automatic systems;
  •        interface with ERP, MIS, DBMS systems such as : R/3, ORACLE and others;
  •        high reliability during  24 hours per day operation.

STN – 3000 includes two series of measuring transmitters – Signature and MVT 3808.

Signature series includes measuring transmitters of pressure (P) - Signature 2808-15A, differential pressure (DP) - Signature 2808-35A, temperature (T) with a 4-20ìÀ current output.

Series MVT 3808 contains two models: transmitter of DP/P/T and transmitter of P/T. As against other sensors, MVT 3808 has following basic properties:

  • measuring of several parameters in one transmitter - DP, P and Ò;
  • presence both analogue (4-20ìÀ), and digital output;
  • a wide choice of digital communication media, including RS232, RS485 or built-in modem; this is unique property as compared with modern smart transmitters, which offered on a market;
  • accuracy - 0,075%.

Development of new base controllers ControlWave for systems of linear telemechanics (SLTM) permitted to execute modifying of gas flow computers in the composition of STN-3000 and to increase substantially their operation and functional possibilities.

In addition to full program compatibility with ControlWave controllers the flow computers has following distinctive flow features, namely, they have I/O boards and they are the combination of not large controller (CP of telemechanics) with gas flow computer equipped with built-in transmitter of DP/P/T

  • Flow computers ControlWave are used both with built-in and external transmitters MVT 3808 (connected to one port RS485). Also they may be used with gas turbine flow meters.
  • In dependence from the model flow computers ControlWave permit to measure a flow in 4 or 2 measuring lines. Additionally the counter can be connected. 
  • Presence of additional channels TI/TS/TU/TR permits to create small SAU GRS with control of main cocks and the regulator, input pressure monitoring, chromatograph connection.  (TI – telemetering, TS – telesignaling, TI – telecontrol, TR – teleregulation)
  • Communication means of ControlWave permit to integrate the system to SLTM entirely.

ControlWaveEFM    

 ControlWave EFM is used in large-size systems such as gas well group or 4-lined gas measuring station (GMS). CW EFM is made in the form of a flow meter with a controller inside. Controller can have up to 32 input/output signals and 10 communication ports.

  • Powerful controller is integrated with flow meter;
  • Integrated device includes solar battery, battery, modem or radio, multi-parameter sensor, resistance thermoelement;
  • 4-slots controller CW Micro with low power consumption is the basis of this device;
  • 2 free slots may provide connection of 32 signal points or 10 communication ports;
  • Modules with mixed type of signal allow to use less modules` quantity;
  • Standard program for 4-lined GMS;
  • ControlWave EFM can be installed in Class I Division 2 zones;
  • Low power consumption (including radio) reduces the cost of power supply system;
  • LSD-display 2x20 or LSD-display 4x20 with 25-button keyboard allows parameters input without PC connection.

ControlWaveGFC

 ControlWave GFC is used in middle-size systems. It is easily maintaining 2-lined GMS or plunger pump on a well.

  • Small integrated flow meter;
  • Competitive with one-line flow meters;
  • To meet the automation requirements of users of CW ControlWave GFC also provides flow calculation and second line automation;
  • Class I Div. 2 and, in future, Class I, Div. 1;
  • Base signals: 2 HSC, 2 DI, 2 DO;
  • Additional signals: 3 AI, 1 AO;
  • 3 serial ports - local, net and field;
  • In addition: built-in battery, solar battery and radio;
  • LSD-display 2x20 or LSD-display 4x20 with 25-button keyboard allows parameters input without PC connection;
  • Very low power consumption, 3 mA\12Vdc;
  • Standard program for 2-lined GMS;
  • Integrated multiparametric sensor can be used as independent component.

 ControlWaveXFC

 ControlWave XFC is used in objects where explosion protection of flameproof enclosure type is needed. CW GFC easily maintaining 2-lined GMS or plunger pump on a well.

  • Small integrated flow meter;
  • Intended for installation in objects where explosion protection of flameproof enclosure type is needed;
  • To meet the automation requirements of users of CW ControlWave GFC also provides flow calculation and second line automation;
  • Explosion protection of Exd Class I Division 1 type;
  • Base signals: 2 HSC, 2 DI, 2 DO;
  • Additional signals: 3 AI, 1 AO;
  • 3 serial ports - local, net and field;
  • Bread diapazone of operational voltage power : 10-30 Vdc;
  • LSD-display, 2 lines with autoscroll;
  • Very low power consumption, 3 mA\12Vdc;
  • Standard program for 2-lined GMS;
  • Integrated multiparametric sensor can be used as independent component.
 
Flow computers ControlWave widen substantially possibilities of SLTM STN-3000. They permit to realize cost effective up-to-date solutions for automation of GRSs and GISs with one and two measuring lines.
 

Operating conditions

The devices of STN-3000 system provide serviceability in following environment conditions:

  • operational temperature: -40 C ... +70 C (-50 C ... +70 C optional)
  • humidity: 5%...95% without condensation;
  • vibrations: 15-150 Hz, 9.8 m/s2; 150-2000 Hz, 4.9 m/s2

STN-3000 system is high reliable SCADA system. Its mean cycles between failure id 60.000 hours. 

Certificates

Information-measuring system STN-3000 has metrological certificate of Gosstandart of Russia.
Automated control system of technological processes on the basis of the information-measuring and control system has the permission to application of Gosgorteñhnadzor of Russia.
All components of the system have the international certificate of quality system ISO 9001, and also metrological certificates of Gosstandart, Russia. 

 

STN-3000 is supplied on turnkey basis as completed system adjusted for customer's object. Adjustment is executed of "AtlanticTransgasSystem" Co. Ltd.


Acceptance tests

System of telemechanics STN-3000 successfully passed the acceptance tests of Gazprom on next objects:

  •  1997 - Gazprom transgas Tschaikovsky: SLTM STN-3000 of Ochersky LPU
  •  2003 - Gazprom dobycha Yamburg, Zapolyarnoe GKM: SLTM STN-3000 of gas wells
  • 2005 - Gazprom  transgas Tschaikovsky: SLTM STN-3000 of Tschaikovsky LPU, GDS-8 automatic control system of Bolshaya Sosnova Ochersky LPU
